Environmental and Sustainability - Services

Building Performance:

Guidance on passive design techniques.

Review the building envelope to maximise thermal continuity of insulation, eliminate thermal bridges and minimise air leakage.

Advice and analysis on the effects of thermal mass.

Advice on material U-values.

Materials:

Consider, during design, minimum material use and subsequent material waste.

Undertake material assessments to establish embodied energy used to produce, build and maintain.

Consider alternative methods of construction to offer guidance on environmentally friendly alternatives to various methods of construction.

Site Analysis:

Organise drainage modelling and flood risk assessment.

Design of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) including techniques such as: Soakaways, Rainwater harvesting, Green roofs, Permeable paving, Attenuation and flow control, Swales and Reed beds.

Energy and CO2

Liase closely with Architects and M & E Engineers with respect to developing reliable solutions to maximise the conservation of fuel and power to Part L of the Building Regulations

Review building fabric and design and detailing to control energy losses and gains.

Develop holistic solutions involving passive design and the use of renewable sources such as Solar Hot Water, PV’s, Heat Pumps, Bio-mass boilers and Combined Heat and Power with partner organisations.

BREEAM, Ecohomes and Code for Sustainable Homes

Organise assessment and certification with qualified partners from inception through to completion of projects across all sectors.
