Concert Hall Transformation Project
The Royal College of Music is a Grade II listed building in Kensington. The project involved the transformation of the Concert Hall and surrounding areas to bring the facility up to modern standards. The acoustics, lighting and air-conditioning were upgraded to a level that would ensure that the hall would be a cutting edge performance space for many years to come.
The existing roof trusses originally constructed in 1908 were surveyed and analysed to ensure they could take a new acoustic coffered ceiling, lighting bars and services within the roof space. A new plant room with an acoustic enclosure was added to adjacent roof space, with the loads transferred to the existing structure below.
