Clementine Church Hospital

Peter Dann were involved in the 50% enlargement of this flagship hospital which was at the time the largest development project undertaken by BMI Healthcare.

The Hospital is located within the Metropolitan Open Land, a conservation area and “a Site of Special Scientific Interest”. The original building was constructed in two stages, in 1980 and 1985, and is stepped into the existing sloping site.

The new development comprised of a 3-storey extension to the eastside of the existing facility, with two levels of clinical accommodation, car parking and ancillary areas on the lower ground floor level. Further car parking was provided immediately to the east of the extension.

Earth profiling and landscaping features were provided to minimise the visual impact of the building on the local environment. The ground level falls dramatically across the site from west to east, which greatly influenced the architectural design of the hospital.
