Meadows Community Centre, Cambridge
This multi-functional leisure building was designed in-house by the City Council to meet their own requirements.
The development included a sports hall, meeting rooms, purpose built nursery school, offices and changing rooms for the indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
The building design is striking with cedar and fair-faced block work cladding. The different internal spaces, nursery, changing, offices and halls are connected by a concrete flat roofed corridor detail. The building is steel framed with exposed circular hollow section columns. The distinctive roof shapes include a canted mono-pitched steel roof over a circular office structure.
Peter Dann were involved from inception to project completion as the only other design consultant external to the City Council.
