Environmental and Sustainability - Policy
The company will adopt a responsible attitude towards protecting the environment by developing innovative and sustainable design solutions wherever possible in order to promote economic security, social betterment and environmental stewardship. We will strive for continuous improvement of performance in these areas.
To deliver these objectives the company aims to:
Collaborate fully with all members of the project team and others to develop and adopt best practice sustainable development.
Specify materials that are durable and economic.
Consider the use of recycled materials and redevelopment sites against green-field sites, where possible.
Make best use of existing infrastructure before embarking on new construction.
Develop eco-design solutions by the removal or reduction of any environmental impacts associated with a product or a service at the design stage. Examples include: using less materials and energy; designing a product so that it can be disassembled at the end of its useful life and its components re-used or recycled.
Encourage use of local labour and materials to reduce energy consumption.
Work with suppliers and customers to promote effective and meaningful environmental best practice.
Adopt sustainable urban drainage systems in close liaison with Water Authorities and local communities.
Adopt measures to prevent pollution and adverse impact on the environment and local communities.
Balance economic viability with environmental and social responsibility to provide lifetime design solutions.
Demonstrate continual improvements in environmental and health and safety performance.
Employ and retain staff with awareness and expertise in sustainability across all the functions undertaken by the firm, providing continual education and training on sustainability issues.
Endeavour to make staff aware of environmental legislation, regulations, British Standards and Good Practice.
Use resources efficiently and to minimise waste, energy use and water consumption within the office environment.
Re-cycle where possible all waste generated within the office environment.
Develop strategies to minimise carbon emissions resulting from our activities by making use of technical solutions such as video conferencing, electronic transmission of information and using public transport where possible.
